The poems "shot", "unjust?" And "irony?" Were submitted to the delta poems competition
The poems "life" and "lighters" were submitted to the new Yorker poetry competition

Asher
Gone from us too soon
Taken away un fairly
Bring back kessandu

Shot
The thousand-degree summer
Timed like clockwork
Exploding out of the cold, desolate winter of the chamber
Heating the near frozen metal
Lasting for only an instant
Long enough for a single flower to form

The brief blooming of a bud,
A painfully bright red and yellow light
Followed rapidly by the dark petals of smoke
Then withering within a fraction of a second
projecting its seed of lead off into the distance
at multiple times the speed of sound
to be planted in soil backdrop
Radiating its sickly, bitter odor into the world
A smell characteristic of conflict and death

Unjust?
awaiting his trial
slowly filling with dread
knowing that the judge already wants him dead
thinking he is something extraordinarily vile
after, phones he wont even be allowed to dial
to tell his brothers that he’s going on ahead
that they shouldn’t lose their head
how his name, they should not defile

the sentence for his crimes are laid out
exiled without a chance to defend
thinking in his mind without a doubt
this may be the end

Life
a darkness engulfs his soul
absorbing light like a black hole
an abyss where no hope exists
slowly growing with each passing day
slowly eating at his will to live
with no end in sight
no one can reach him
and nothing gets out
until the unthinkable happens
the freedom of nonexistence

Irony?
I don’t like poetry
In it there is no modesty
Just people using big and pretentious words
That others act differently towards
As if they have some deep profound meaning
But are bullshit up for interpreting
No one wants to call them out
As they are part of the herd
In desperation for acceptance
Blindly following their shepard
To the death of literature

Lighters
Sparking of flint stones
Climbing up and off the wick
Crackling to life

Life of a flower
Bursting with colour
Taking in all of the sun
Dying soon after

Street
Accelerating
Roar of the engine revving
Breaking speed limits
